The 23rd edition of the Paris Half-Marathon will take place on Sunday 8th March. A record number of 43,500 participants have confirmed their registration for this event, which is the second biggest on the French running calendar after the Schneider Electric Paris Marathon.
New in 2015: the runners will tackle the route in the opposite direction to previous editions, starting from near to the Château de Vincennes esplanade on the way to PorteDorée. They will then visit the major landmarks of the east of the French capital (Nation, Bastille, Hôtel de Ville). As is customary, the finishing line is located on the edge of the Château de Vincennes esplanade after a lengthy final straight along Route de laPyramide.
It should be noted that this year women will account for 34% of registrations for the spring challenge (an increase of 4% in comparison with 2014), making it a Gallic record for the fairer sex over the 13.1 mile (21.1 km) distance. Russian model and actress Natalia Viodanova and French TV presenter Karine Lemarchand will be taking part in this grand festival of running which this year coincides with International Women’s Day.
The Paris Half-Marathon Village will be open on Friday 6th March (from 10 AM to 7:30 PM) and Saturday 7th March (from 9 AM to 7:30 PM) at the Parc Floral de Paris botanical garden, located within the Bois Vincennes woods. Competitors and their friends and families are recommended to take public transport (via metro line 1, to Château de Vincennes station) in order to reach the Village and access the starting zone.
